Add, Remove or Change Serial Number Range
Explanation
This activity is used to add, remove or change an existing serial number
range from an active modification revision. This function is useful when erroneous
serials are assigned to the modification. By changing the existing serial range,
new serials are assigned and serials that are already assigned but do not match
the new range are removed. It is also possible to add a new serial number range
or remove an existing one.
Following options exist:
- Add serial range - Click Add Serial Range in the
Define Modification/Serial Range tab and enter
the required information. For preliminary modifications, the information
can be entered directly in the tab.
- Delete serial range - Click Remove Serial Range for
a selected record in the tab. For preliminary modifications, simply delete
the record directly from the tab.
- Change serial range - Click Change Serial Range for
a selected record in the tab and enter the required information. For preliminary
modifications, the serial range can be changed by updating the value in
the Serial Number Range field for the record.
There is no validation of the serial numbers entered in the Serial Number
Range field.
Prerequisites
The modification revision on which a serial number range is to be added,
changed or removed must have been created. This modification revision should
have an assignment type of By Serial Range and be in the Active
status.
System Effects
- Depending on your selection, new serial ranges are added to the modification,
existing serial ranges are removed or changed.
- The changes to serial range will be evaluated, and new serials will
be assigned to the modification and/or assigned serials will be removed
from the modification.
- The due calculation for the modification will run automatically for
all serials to calculate due dates and values.
