This activity is used to reserve material manually. You can select the inventory stock record which to retrieve the material. The supply code of the shop order material line will be considered when showing the available stock.
Manually reserving material ensures that you get exactly the material you want. Manually reserved material cannot be used for any other shop order. This ensures that the shop order you specify has sufficient material to be completed.
In MRO Manufacturing, manual reservations are required when the material allocated to a repair or MRO assembly shop order must be supplied via an inventory order. This could, for instance, be the result of scrap during disposition or timing issues or damage occurring during repair. In such cases, the user must ensure that the material reserved manually meets any life limit requirements and has all required modifications performed as specified in the work scope.
To reserve shop order components manually, enter the quantity of the components to reserve in the Qty Reserved field of the inventory stock record from which you want to reserve the material.
Note: For MRO assembly shop order the Show All Reservable Parts option appears if the part to reserve is a position part. If it is enabled, all parts possible to reserve appears in the Details tab independent of ownership and condition code. Alternate(s) for the position part also appears and are possible to reserve.
As a result of this activity, the system reserves material for a shop order. If the shop order is in status Released before the reservation, the status is changed to Reserved. The status of the reserved material lines are also changes to Reserved.
When reserving a material line with a connected supply pegging, the reservation will reduce the pegged quantity by the same quantity that was reserved. However, if there is more than one supply pegged to the same demand you will be notified to manually adjust the peggings before the reservation can be performed.
