Start Production
Explanation
This activity is used to register that production has started on one or several
shop order operations. It is possible to register both labor and machine time.
To start production from Shop Floor Workbench
select the operation(s) to start and click Start Production. You
can also select the operation in Shop Floor Workbench,
click Operation Guide and then click Start
Production.
In Start Production dialog:
- To register start of production for machine, enable the Machine
Time option and select the resource to start time for.
- To register start of production for labor, enable the Labor
Time option and either enter the crew size (anonymous mode), or
the employee(s) in the Employees list (employee mode) to
start time for. When reporting as a team, the employees currently in the
team will be displayed and may not be changed.
- Operations connected to an operation block are expected to be started
together. You are still allowed to start them individually, but a warning
will be given.
To start setup from the Time Clock client:
- Click Start Production and enter the Employee
or Team.
- Enter the Operation to start time for.
- If machine runtime exists for the operation, Machine Time will
be automatically set to Yes. Set it to No if you do not want
to start machine.
- Choose the resource on which the operation will be performed in the
Resource.
- If the existing clockings for the employee should be stopped, select
Yes in Stop Employee Clockings. The default value is set based
on the value of Allow Concurrent Operations for the employee on the
Shop Floor Employees page.
- Note: Depending on the Time Clock
configuration, some of these fields may be automatically filled with default
data and thereby the fields may be disabled or unavailable for editing.
- From time clock, you can start production for only one operation at
a time.
Prerequisites
- The status of the operation is not Planned or Closed.
- The status of the shop order should not be Parked.
- To start setup from the Shop Floor Workbench
page, production cannot already be ongoing for the operation.
- To start labor time, a labor class must be connected to the shop order
operation.
- To start machine time, a valid resource must exist on the work center.
- To start multiple operations, they must belong to the same work center.
- If Reporting Mode has been set to Employee Reporting on
the used site at least one Employee must be entered in order to report
labor time.
- If an employee qualification requirement exists for the operation, and
the qualification check for the site is mandatory, then the reporting employee(s)
must have those qualifications.
- To report from time clock, employee should be a time clock user. When
reporting as a team, all the employees in the team should be time clock
users.
- If the employee has a valid work schedule for time and attendance reporting,
the employee must be clocked in for the day.
System Effects
- If the Machine Time option has been enabled, a machine clocking
will be created and the start time recorded on it.
- If the Labor Time option has been enabled, one labor clocking
will be created for each employee that has been entered in the Employees
section. In anonymous mode one labor clocking will be created with the
value provided in the Crew Size field recorded on it.
- The start time will be recorded on the created clocking record(s). The
clockings can be viewed in the
Clockings tab.
- The status of the operation is set to In Process.
- If an ongoing setup activity exists, it will be stopped.
- If the employee or team is running an indirect job, this will be stopped.
- If the employee or team is running other operation(s), and the
Allow Concurrent Operations field on Shop
Floor Employees or Shop Floor Teams
page is set to No, these operation(s) will be stopped.
- If the work center resource has an ongoing downtime clocking, this will
be stopped.
- If a machine operation clocking is already running on the resource where
this one is started and the Concurrent Operations drop-down on the
Work Center page is set to Not Allowed, this machine
clocking will be stopped.
- The selected resource will be set as the preferred resource for the
operation.
- If multiple operations were selected and started simultaneously they
will either be started in sequence (share the same clocking sequence), or
in parallel (individual clocking sequences) depending on the Concurrent
Operations value on the Work Center page.
- If multiple operations are started in parallel and the site has been
configured to report labor anonymously, the value in the Crew Size
field will be distributed among the generated labor clockings based on the
planned crew size of the operations.
