This activity is used to add by-products to a configuration structure alternate. I.e., secondary products potentially produced in addition to the main product during manufacturing, remanufacturing, repair, or prototyping.
To add a by-product, create a new record with Type set to By-Product in the Produced Parts tab. Enter the Part to add, and the quantity produced relative unit of the parent part in Qty per Assembly field. Specify the probability that the component is produced as a percentage in the Usage Factor field. Optionally, connect the by-product to the operation where it is produced. Back-office rules can be defined specifying the set of configuration values when the by-product should be selected.
As a result of this activity, by-products are added to the configuration structure alternate.
