This activity is used to manually create a new alternate for a configuration structure header. When a configuration structure header is created, the system automatically creates the default alternate with ID set to *. Additional alternates can be created representing slightly different ways to manufacture, prototype, repair, or remanufacture the same part. Optionally back-office rules can be defined specifying the set of configuration values when the alternate should be selected.
To create a new configuration structure alternate, create a new line in the Alternate section, enter an ID and optionally a description.
The configuration structure header must exist.
As a result of this activity, a new alternate in status Tentative is added to a configuration structure header.
