Create Standard Operation

Explanation

This activity is used to create a standard operation. You can also use this activity to associate tools and work guidelines with standard operations.

Use the Standard Operation page for this activity. Creating a standard operation allows you to define a commonly used operation once and then copy or reference it in routings and routing templates. A standard operation can also be copied to shop orders and estimate items. Routings and routing templates with a reference to a standard operation can be viewed on the Routings Where Used tab and the Routing Templates Where Used tab on the Standard Operation page. A standard operation is site specific as it uses data elements such as work center, labor class and tools that are site specific.

If you create a standard operation for an outside work center you need to specify the outside operation item that will be connected to the operation. The outside operation item can either be an existing part or a new part.

Prerequisites

A work center must be defined on the Work Center page. If you work with labor operations, labor classes must be defined on the Manufacturing Labor Class page.

System Effects

A new standard operation is created. The standard operation can be used to create routing template operations, routing operations, shop order operations and estimate item operations.
