This activity is used to create a Service Organization. A Service
Organization exists inside a company and is the owner of the Requests,
Request Contracts, and Request Quotations, and offers services defined in the
Service
Catalog.
On the Service Organization header, Sites can be connected to define the
Logistics, Sales and Work Owning Sites - representing the site values for
parts, sales, and work task ownership respectively:
A Service Organization must be created with a default Owning Site, Logistics Site and a Sales Site.
Work Owning Site: The default owning site that is set as the Work Task Site
on Work Tasks related to the Request. Logistics Site: The default Logistics Site governs the Part Site on
Material lines on a Work Task (unless an Alternative Logistics Site has
been defined on the Service Delivery Unit). Sales Site: The default Sales site that governs the Sales Part Site of the
Request.
There can be one
or many Service Delivery Units defined on a Service Organization to handle the delivery of work.
A Service Delivery Unit (SDU) is a unit that defines the ownership of the Work
Tasks, related to Requests. Each SDU can have a reference to the
timezone in which it operates. You can create new Service Organization via the New Service
Organization assistant by entering Service Organization ID, Company, Work
Owning Site, Logistics Site, Sales Site and add one or more Service
Delivery Units. The company will filter the values in Work Owning Site,
Logistics Site and Sales Site. When you add
Service Delivery Units, the Maintenance Organiation Site and Delivery Unit
will be filtered based on the Company. When a Service Delivery Unit is added for a Service
Organization, it is possible to define an Alternative Logistics Site. For Work
Tasks created for the Service Delivery Unit, the Alternative Logistics Site will
then override the Logistics Site defined in
the Service Organization header. Multiple Service Organizations can use the same sites
for e.g. Sales Site, whereas Sites defined for Service Delivery Units must
be unique.
