Delete Serial

Explanation

This activity is used to delete a registered vehicle or component from Fleet and Asset Management. Ideally this activity should be performed as a result of the vehicle or component part been sold or scrapped.

You have the option of retaining historical records for the serialized parts you choose to delete. You also have the option of deleting the entire serial structure of the selected vehicle. If you have selected to delete the serial structure in its entirety, historical records for the sub parts will be retained according to the settings given for the top serial. Note: In addition to scrapped serials, it is also possible to delete serials that are planned for operation or out of operation. When a serial is out of operation it will not be allowed to remove details of the serial from the Part Serial Catalog. Further, it will not be allowed to delete the serial if it has an underlying structure. If you need to delete the structure of the serial (that is in the Out of Operation status), this must be done manually.

You can select Remove Serial option from Serial drop down in Manage Serial  Structure to open Remove Serial assistant. In the first step, select the Delete from Part Serial Catalog option if you want to delete details on the serial from the Part Serial Catalog. Select the Remove the entire serial structure? option if you want to delete the entire serial structure. These options are not applicable when deleting a serial that is in the Out of Operation status.

In the second step, select the options that illustrate the type of history records you want retained for the serial being deleted. Unselect the options for historical records you do not want. Some options will be selected by default, but can be updated according to your requirements.
