Enter Complied/Decomplied Modifications
Explanation
This activity is used to enter compliance values for a modification (including
obsolete modifications), that has been complied or decomplied for the serial
structure, but has not yet been registered in the system. You can enter information
for the components that have not yet been registered in the system and for the
components that have existing or incomplete historical entries.
The modification for an assigned serial part will be dependent on the serials
defined for the selected serial structure and the configured modification information.
If the selected serial part is not operational in the system, click Set Structure
Out Of Operation in the Serial Initialization
page. When this is done, the Modification Assigned
Serials tab will be updated with values from the
Modification Details/Assign Serials tab (this
tab holds values for the serial parts for which the modifications apply, and
serial parts that correspond to the serial range defined on a modification).
The values together with the modification history are used to determine the
modifications that are to be displayed in the Modification
Assigned Serials tab so that it incorporates planned modifications
and complied modifications. The Modifications in Structure
tab can be used to view modifications to which the selected structure
entry and all serials below in the structure are assigned.
The modification for an affected serial part will be dependent on the serial
part selected in the part navigator and the configured modification information.
You can view the modifications and the relevant serial parts in the
Modification Details/Assigned Serials tab and the
Modification
Details/Affected Parts tab. If a modification is assigned to, for
example, two revisions, the information on the modification is displayed twice,
once for each revision. It is possible to adjust recently recorded values thereby
avoiding the erroneous display of multiple records in the log entries.
Using this activity you can enter compliance values for a modification leading
to a part identity change on an assigned or affected serial. Following scenarios
are handled when entering compliance values for a modification leading to the
rename of an assigned/affected serial's part number and revision. The procedure
for these scenarios are described further down in this activity.

A decomply modification leading to a reversal
of the part identity change on an assigned/affected serial exists. However,
the part number and revision of the assigned/affected serial has not
yet been reversed in the system. Use this activity to simultaneously
enter compliance values for the decomplied modification and perform
the reversal so that the assigned/affected serial has the original part
number and revision. |
The Enter Modification Compliance assistant should
be used to enter modification compliance/decompliance. Following is a description
of the different steps in the assistant:
- Option - Select the option that reflects the change
that is to be done.
- Modification Compliance - View information on the serial
for which compliance values are to be entered. The modification information
appears by default. The assigned or affected serial information is displayed
in relevant fields, based on where the assistant was opened. If the modification
is responsible for a change to the part number and/or part revision of the
serial, the new part number and/or revision appears automatically in either
the Assigned or Affected area.
- Enter Obsolete Modification Compliance - Contains similar
information as shown in the Modification Compliance step. If the modification
is not retrieved automatically, select the obsolete modification from the
List of Values.
- Rename Modification Compliance - You need to enter
the modification revision that led to a change of the part number and/or
revision of the serial. This is required in order to continue with the procedure
for registering a serial rename in the system.
- Rename Serial Information - Enter the information needed
to perform a part identity change on the serial. Enter information on the
manufacturer of the new serial (i.e., the renamed serial) as well as a valid
maintenance program for the new serial. In addition, indicate if history
records are to be updated with the new serial or retain the old serial.
If the new part number is a life limited part and the old serial is a disconnected
serial (i.e., the serial is not contained in a structure), you can define
stress rating for the new serial in this step. The template information
for the new part number of the serial is also displayed in this step of
the assistant.
In this step you can also enter information on the
manufacturer for the old part number of the serial. The old serial is needed
when registering details on the performed serial rename. If the old serial
does not exist in IFS/Part Serial Catalog, the system will recreate the
old serial automatically. When recreating the old serial, the manufacturer
information for the old part number is required. Note:
If the serial is already renamed using the Rename Serial
assistant, the system will not recreate the old serial and therefore manufacturer
information for the old part number of the serial is not needed. Furthermore,
when the serial is renamed using the Rename Serial
assistant it will be possible to define if history records for the serial
are to retain the old part number and/or revision or be updated with the
new part number and/or revision. When the old serial is retained in the
system, it is recommended that you register the modification that led to
the change of the part number and/or revision on the serial. If needed,
you can choose to register the modification without complying the modification.
- Execution Information - Enter information on the preventive
checks for the selected modification. Values for the current and new execution
type of the modification appear in the Change Execution Type
area. The current execution type is used for the selected serial
part and modification, and appears automatically from the tab the assistant
is opened. The current execution type can only be changed to a higher execution
type than the present value.
The new execution type will be
used when you want to raise future preventive checks to a higher level or
embody the modification. This execution type will be used subsequently when
the modification is applied to a selected serial part. Select a value for
the new execution type that will be validated as a higher value than the
current execution type. The new execution type must have a higher value
than the current execution type.
To terminate inspections of a modification,
enable the Terminate Inspections option. Terminating inspections
implies that no further initial or continued inspections will be carried
out for the particular serial, and the modification will not be complied
with.
When finishing the last of the current inspection type without
specifying the New Execution Type and with the
Terminate Inspections option disabled, the system will shift to
the next execution type.
A description of the modification execution
should be entered in the Modification Execution Remark field. The
recorded date is the date that the selected modification was complied (or
not complied) with, this value defaults to the recorded date entered in
the Serial Initialization page.
- Operational Parameter Values - Register operational
parameter values at the time the modification is completed. Click
Get Defaults to view the default values for the existing
operational parameters.
The operational parameter for which measurements
are completed, the accumulated value after the last overhaul and the accumulated
total value for the serial part is displayed in the table. The Triggered
Execution option should be enabled for the operational parameter
which triggered this particular action. The triggering operational parameter
and its values are stored in the modification history. When you select the
triggering operational parameter a warning message will appear if;
- the modification is not purely calendar based and the selected triggering
operational parameter is not defined for the modification.
- the modification is purely calendar based and the triggering operational
parameter is different to the primary operational parameter.
- executions (inspections) are not defined for the modification.

Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for the modification of an assigned serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Modification Compliance
option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the new execution type or whether the modification is to be
terminated during inspections, execution remarks, recorded date, and operational
parameter values.
Note: Terminating inspections
implies that no further initial or continued inspections will be carried
out for the particular serial, and the modification will not be complied
with.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for the obsolete modification of an assigned serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Obsolete Modification
Compliance option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the new execution type or whether the modification is to be
terminated during inspections, execution remarks, recorded date, and operational
parameter values.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for a modification that led to the rename of the part number and revision of
an assigned serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Performed Rename
Modifications option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the modification that led to the rename of the serial's part
number and revision (In the List of Values the Rename Already Performed
option has the value Yes), the new execution type or whether
the modification is to be terminated during inspections, execution remarks,
recorded date, and operational parameter values.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for a modification leading to the rename of the part number and revision of
an assigned serial, where the serial rename has not yet been performed in the
system:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Performed Rename
Modifications option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the modification that led to the rename of the serial's part
number and revision (In the List of Values the Rename Already Performed
option has the value No), information on the new part number
(manufacturer information, maintenance program, maintenance group) the stress
rating template for the new serial if this is required, and the new template
information if the new serial has a different template structure. In addition,
enable the available options if all operational loggings, replacement history
entries, and other history records for the serial are to be updated with
the new part number and revision. Specify the new execution type or whether
the modification is to be terminated during inspections, execution remarks,
recorded date, and operational parameter values.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for a modification leading to the rename of the part number and revision of
an assigned serial, where the serial rename has been performed outside the system
(i.e., the part or serial prior to the rename does not exist in the system):
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Performed Rename
Modifications option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the modification that led to the rename of the serial's part

option has the value Yes), manufacturer information for
the old part number, the new execution type or whether the modification

leading to a reversal of the serial rename performed on the assigned serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from either the
Modification Assigned Serials tab or the
Modifications in Structure tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Performed Rename
Modifications option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the decomply modification that will lead to a reversal of
the serial rename (In the List of Values the Rename Already Performed
option has the value Yes), the new execution type or whether
the modification is to be terminated during inspections, execution remarks,
recorded date, and operational parameter values.
Affected Serials
Note: Before the following procedures can be performed, compliance
must have been reported on the serial within the structure of which the affected
serial was installed at time of compliance.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for the modification of an affected serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from the
Modification Affected Serials tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Modification Compliance
option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the serial number (in the Assigned group),
the new execution type or whether the modification is to be terminated during
inspections, execution remarks, recorded date, and operational parameter
values.
Use the following procedure to enter compliance values
for a modification that led to the rename of the part number and revision of
an affected serial:
- Click Enter Modification Compliance from the
Modification Affected Serials tab.
- In the first step of the assistant, select the Enter Performed Rename
Modifications option.
- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the modification that led to the rename of the serial's part
number and revision (In the List of Values the Rename Already Performed
option has the value Yes), the new execution type or whether
the modification is to be terminated during inspections, execution remarks,
recorded date, and operational parameter values.

an affected serial, where the serial rename has not yet been performed in the

Modification Affected Serials tab.

- Enter required information in the subsequent steps of the assistant.
For instance, the decomply modification that will lead to a reversal of
the serial rename (In the List of Values the Rename Already Performed
option has the value Yes), the new execution type or whether
the modification is to be terminated during inspections, execution remarks,
recorded date, and operational parameter values.
Prerequisites
- A serial must have been created.
- Modifications must have been created and activated for the selected
serial part.
System Effects
- The modification will be registered as Complied With or Not Complied
With (depending on the new execution type that has been selected) in the
modification history for the selected serial. If operational parameters
are given, the values will be connected to the modification history.
- Records are updated as if the modification has been signed off through
a work order, without a work order being generated. However, an entry in
the order history is added to store the operational values according to
the ordinary data entry.
- The rename of the serial's part number and revision that is defined
on the modification will be performed on the serial if it has not already
been renamed.
- The entered operational parameter values are validated against the time
of execution and the values entered on any previous or later log entries.
- A record is created in the modification history for the serial part.
- The modification will be referenced as the reason for renaming the part
number and revision of the serial, and a record is created in the
Serial Identification History page.

- If the assigned part is the same as the affected part for a complied/decomplied
modification, and the serial rename is defined for the assigned part, the
affected part is signed off automatically.
