Identify Modification Requirements

Explanation

This activity is used to identify modification requirements.

There can be serial parts for which a large number of modification have been issued. The modifications that are assigned to a serial part can be viewed in Serial Maintenance/Modifications. When you want to assign a modification to a part with the intention of maintaining or improving the parts safety and maneuverability, the modification should ideally be defined as a Mandatory modification. Note: The system will automatically assign existing and new serials to Mandatory modifications. If the modification is to be defined as an Optional or Recommended modification, this definition must be performed manually.

To identify modification requirements, go to the Modification Details/Assign Serials tab. Verify the value of the Perform Modification field for the required serials. To change the value, click Change Perform Modification. The effective date for the modification helps you to plan when the due calculation is to start and the modification execution type shows the subsequent event for the serial.

In the Assign Serials tab, the due dates for the 5 pre-selected operational parameters for the modification code will be displayed in the parent list, while in the child list all operational parameters will be listed (including the 5 parameters already listed in the parent list). In the Serials Assigned to Modifications page, the due dates for the 5 pre-selected operational parameters for the modification code will be displayed. The operational parameters to be displayed when due information is presented is pre-set in the Due Info Sorting field found in the Serial Part/Operational Parameters per Maintenance Group tab.
