Define Region

Explanation

This activity is used to define a region, in which resources are able to carry out work. Work Tasks can be linked to one or more regions via Location/ Scheduling Details. Scheduling Resources can be linked to regions via Scheduling Resource Regions. It is also possible to link locations and scheduling resources to a specific region and define availability patterns for scheduling resources through the Region Details page. The page can be accessed by selecting a region on Regions and clicking on the Details button.

If a work task is associated with a region, a resource must be associated with that same region or to a parent region (or have an out of region multiplier which is greater than 0) in order for the resource to be eligible for this work task. If no region has been specified on a work task, no region restrictions apply. If the work task is associated with multiple regions, the resource must also be associated with all specified regions, either directly or via a parent region, in order to be eligible for the work task.

Once a Region is defined, a default color will be assigned to the region to be visualized on Dispatch Console Map. The geographical boundary can be defined by setting multiple points via the attachment panel map, either by adding coordinates manually or by clicking on the point on the map. Once the multiple coordinates are defined the boundary can be viewed on the map by clicking on command "View Location".

System Effects

As a result of this activity, regions are created and will be defined by a geographical boundary. These regions can later be connected to resources that will be used by the scheduling engine.
