When you handle customer orders or shipments with inventory parts, they need to be reserved and picked at a specific inventory location. For parts packed in handling units it is possible to report picking on the handling unit instead of reporting it per part and quantity. The whole handling unit is reported as picked which means that all the content of that handling unit is also pick reported. Any deviation to the content of a handling unit has to be handled in the report picking on a detail level.
For parts not stored in handling units or parts being picked out of a handling unit (partially reserved handling unit), the aggregation level is per location. This means that for these lines you can do one aggregated report picking for the location instead of reporting it per part and quantity. This could be useful if the picking has been done using the pick list report per detail and the actual reporting is done when all pick for one location is complete.
While looking at the pick list from an aggregated point of view it is still possible to report picking of the content of for example a handling unit. Report picking with a quantity deviation can then be done on the detailed level but it is not possible to report picking on another location. To do that one need to report picking on the detailed level, per inventory part in stock records being reserved on the pick list.
When going through the aggregated pick list lines you might decide that some of them will not be picked. This can be handled by releasing reservations for those records.
In the upper pane of the page the aggregated lines are displayed. The outermost
handling units that in full contain lines from the pick list is shown by default.
If picking should be reported for a sub-level of a handling unit structure it
is possible to view all handling units included on the pick list by using the
radio button for show all.
Records in the upper pane of the page that doesn't
refer to a handling, only to a location, represents single pick list lines per
location. That could be pick list lines not being packed in handling units or
pick list lines to be picked out of a handling unit (partial reservation of
handling unit) being grouped per location.
Note that in the upper pane
report picking is done per aggregated record, for example per handling unit.
This means that it is not possible to enter deviating quantity when reporting
picking on an aggregated level. In the lower part of the page the content as
part and quantity of the selected records in the upper part is displayed. It
is possible to report a quantity deviation for those records in the lower pane
of the page.
By running command Report Picking and Packing it is possible to pick parts and at the same time attach them to a shipment handling unit, i.e. "pick and pack". An assistant gives you the possibility to attach the picked quantity to a new or an existing handling unit. There are also options to create SSCC for the handling unit and to print handling unit labels and packing list. No separate basic data is needed but if you want a default handling unit type to be fetched for new handling units then you can set that in Site/Shipment Management page.
Report picking aggregated can be done from the Report Picking of Pick Lists page, Warehouse Task/Customer Order Pick List page, Shipment page and in the Shipments page.
