Define Control Plan Lines

Explanation

Each control plan manufacturing, control plan purchasing or control plan inventory consists of two levels: a header and one or more lines. This activity is used to create new control plan lines.

A control plan line for a manufacturing control plan specifies how to inspect a specified part during the execution of a shop order. You can inspect not only the main product of the shop order but also its by-products and disassembly components.

A control plan line for a purchasing control plan specifies how a purchased part is going to be inspected when purchased from the supplier entered in the control plan header.

A control plan line for an inventory control plan specifies how a part is going to be inspected when performing analysis in inventory.

For each control plan line, the sample size will to be calculated when an analysis is created. To calculate the sample size, an inspection code must be selected. The inspection type specifies whether the sample size is based on a fixed quantity or a sample percentage of the order size. It is not possible to use Percentage as the inspection type if the part is used as a production schedule part.

For acceptance sampling, a system-generated inspection code ‘ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING’ is used, which has a sample percentage of 100%. The actual sample size will be calculated by the system when the analysis is created. A control plan line using the inspection code for acceptance sampling will be automatically connected to an acceptance sampling trigger.

To create a new control plan line click the new command on the Control Plan Lines tab and enter information about the template line. To make it mandatory to attach a media item to the result, enable Media Required. In the Data Type field select Attributes, Variables or Categorical. If the data type is set to Categorical, enter a category ID or use the List of Values (LOV) picker to choose from the available category IDs in the Category field. If the data type is set to Variable, enter information about the tolerance limits in the Outer Min, Inner Min, Nominal Value, Inner Max and Outer Max fields. The nominal value is required, together with either the combination Inner Min/Inner Max, or Outer Min/Outer Max. Finally click Save.

Note: In control plan manufacturing it is mandatory to enter a part in the Produced Part to Inspect field for each control plan line. Use the List of Values to choose from the available parts. Any produced part (by-products or disassembly components) that exists in at least one of the existing product structure alternates for the main product part, defined in the header section of the control plan, may be selected.

To activate acceptance sampling for a control plan line, select the system-defined Inspection Code ‘ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING’. When activating acceptance sampling for a control plan line, the AQL and Inspection Level values will automatically be set to the default values defined in the Acceptance Sampling Parameters section in the control plan header, but they can be edited. If acceptance sampling is activated for a control plan line with data type Variable, it is also mandatory to set Specification Limits and Standard Deviation values.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, one or more control plan lines are created. The inspection code selected in the control plan line, will control the sample size for each data point when the analyses are created.
