Enter Shipment Process Parameters

Explanation

This activity is used to change the Shipment Management data related to the site such as outbound and inbound information.

The shipment type is used to control the shipment flow. The shipment processes of your company determine how the shipment type should be defined to get a streamlined and effective process.

Shipment types can be entered per site, per customer delivery address or per supply chain relation as a default. A default shipment type defined per supply chain relation has the highest priority, then per customer delivery address and last per site. The default shipment type will be fetched to customer orders or shipments but it can be changed manually if required. The control of the progress is handed over from the order type to the shipment type as soon as a shipment is created.

Default shipment location can be defined per site and per supply chain relation. A default shipment type defined per supply chain relation has the highest priority. This location is retrieved automatically when creating a shipment either manually or automatically.

If you enter a value in Default Handling Unit Type for Pick and Pack, it will later be fetched as default when using Pick and Pack functionality.

Further, the usage of Customer Order Freight charges at shipment, option to automatically send dispatch advice and default receive case for inventory parts for the site can be defined.

Prerequisites

System Effects

Unless a deviating default shipment type is entered per supply chain relation, the defined shipment type is the default value for all customer orders and shipments entered at this site.

If you choose to create a new Handling Unit during Pick and Pack, the handling unit type is fetched from site but you can manually select a different value if needed.
