Activate Object

This process is used to activate a fixed assets object in order to make the object available to be used in fixed assets accounting processes. The process differs based on whether the object has been recorded in the system as an acquisition or as an import.

Activating a newly acquired object

In order to activate a newly acquired object, the status of that object must be Investment. It is also required that a voucher to record the acquisition value of the object to be activated has been updated to the general ledger. If these two conditions have been met, the status of the object can be manually changed from Investment to Active.

Activating an imported object

In order to activate the imported fixed asset object, you are required to post the import transactions entered for it. The posting of imported transactions is done in a separate window for all the fixed asset objects with the status Import instead of for individual objects.

When import transactions are posted, a voucher is created in the hold table for each transaction. The posting type used to post an import transaction depends on the following factors.

The following table illustrates posting types that will be used to post import transactions with different combinations of factors.

As a result of posting import transactions, the object status of all the fixed asset objects with the status Import will change to Active. Information relating to the base value may be automatically generated for the imported objects at the time the object status changes to Active (i.e. only if one or more user-defined base value types that are initiated by the acquisition value exist for the company).

It is possible to roll back the import of a fixed asset object after the import transactions of that fixed asset are posted. When the import is rolled back, the object status of the imported fixed asset object will change from Active to Registered.
