Assign Technicians to Tasks

Explanation

Line supervisors can assign work on a task to technicians considering the required skills to complete the task, and the technician’s availability.

Line supervisors can use the Task Work Assignments page to assign skills and this page shows all the incomplete tasks in an active work package. They can assign technicians to tasks by assigning technicians to skills using the list or Gantt chart. As the supervisor assigns technicians to skills, a task may have multiple assignees.  

Task work assignments have the following statuses:

• Assigned - All required skills are assigned to technicians and there are no conflicts with the resource assignments.
• Unassigned - One or all of the required skills have not been assigned to a technician.
• No Required Skills - Required skills are not added.
• Resource Conflict - One or more of the assigned technicians is assigned to another task or turn at the same time. Resource conflict usually occurs due to flight delays and you can define the parameters to show the resource conflict on the Mobile Maintenance Parameters page.

Prerequisites

1.  Define technicians - To perform this, the technicians' schedules must be defined using resource groups.  Follow the steps given below to do so:
   1. Create a site.
   2. Connect calendars and users to the site (Extended Site Info).
   3. Create a resource group (Resource Type: Person).
   4. Connect the site to the resource group.
   5. Add technicians to the resource group (Persons section).
   6. Connect the site and airport using the Airport page.

Note: If the HCM module is used, then the HR schedule of the person's primary scheduling employment is taken to get the availability. If there is no HR Schedule, then the Work Time Calendar directly connected to the person is taken to get the availability. To assign work to technicians, line supervisors should have access to the site. 

2. There must be an incomplete task in an active work package. The skill requirement is defined on the Task Work Assignments page or Task Details page
3. Define work assignment display parameters to display resource conflicts (FLIGHT_DELAY_FOR_CONFLICT_MINS & DISPLAY_RESOURCE_CONFLICT) on the Mobile Maintenance Parameters page
4. There must be an inbound and outbound flight for the turn.

System Effects

•  When a technician has been assigned one or more tasks within a work package in a turn, the technician can view the relevant turn and the tasks under the turns assigned to them and My Work page, respectively.
•  If required, from the My Aircraft Turns page, technicians can view tasks assigned to all technicians for a turn and record work against those tasks.
