Find and Reserve Inventory in Maintenix
Explanation
You can find and reserve inventory in IFS-Maintenix, for part changes that must be carried out as a result of
performing maintenance, using the Mobile Maintenance for Aviation applications.
Inventory can be found and reserved for the aircraft turn or for a specific task or fault on an aircraft turn.
When you click Find Inventory, you are required to log in to Maintenix with your user credentials,
provided it is the first time you are accessing Maintenix within a particular login session, and on logging in, you
are then directed to the Inventory Search/Search by installable inventory page in
Maintenix with the values for fields set as follows:
| Field |
Value |
| Search Type |
Search by installable inventory |
| Aircraft |
The registration code (tail number) of the aircraft on the turn, task or fault |
| Supply Location |
The airport of the aircraft turn |
| Installed |
Uninstalled items only |
| Reservation Status |
Reserved (to steal inventory from another task) + Unreserved |
| Serviceability |
Serviceable |
If required, you can also change the default value of the Search Type field to search by part
number or serial number for batch, serialized and kit inventory.
Once inventory is found, inventory can be reserved provided it meets the prerequisites for inventory
reservation. You can reserve local inventory where the where needed location is the same as the inventory location,
or reserve remote inventory where the inventory location is not the same as the where needed location.
If your organization allows stealing of inventory under controlled circumstances, such as after MOC
approval:
- You can reserve inventory that was already reserved which steals the inventory for a new request and fires
off auto-reservation for the previous request.
- You cannot steal already reserved inventory for a remote reservation. This means that if some inventory is
already reserved at a local or remote supply location, the same inventory cannot be stolen for another remote
reservation.
Prerequisites
To find inventory:
- You must be online.
- Your system administrator must have:
- granted you access to the Inventory Search by Type page in Maintenix via the
ACTION_SEARCH_INVENTORY_BY_TYPE permission.
- set the MaintenixConnected property to TRUE on the Apps-Mtx Config page.
- configured the Maintenix URL for cross application navigation, between the Mobile Maintenance for
Aviation and Maintenix applications, on the Apps-Mtx Config page.
To reserve inventory:
- The inventory must not be attached to an aircraft or issued.
- Your system administrator must have enabled the ACTION_REQUEST_AND_RESERVE_INVENTORY permission setting in
Maintenix.
System Effects
- A part request is created in Maintenix for reserved inventory with values as follows:
- Inventory reserved for a task from the Task Details page has the value for the
Needed By Task field on the part request in Maintenix set to Mobile Maintenance Task
Record ID R01 where
R01 is the Record ID of the task in Mobile Maintenance
for Aviation.
- Inventory reserved for a fault from the Fault Details page has the value for
the Needed By Task field on the part request in Maintenix to Mobile Maintenance
Fault Record ID R01 where R01 is the Record ID
of the fault in Mobile Maintenance for Aviation.
- Inventory reserved for an aircraft turn from the Aircraft Turn Details page has
the value for the Needed By Task field on the part request in Maintenix to the
Mobile Maintenance Turn.
- Values for the Aircraft and Where Needed fields are set based on the
originating aircraft turn, task or fault in Mobile Maintenance for Aviation.
- If you reserve inventory that was already reserved, a warning is issued that you are about to reserve
inventory that was previously reserved and the inventory is stolen from the previous reservation for the new
request. If enabled, an auto-reservation process then runs to try and reserve a part for the previous
request.
