Assign Technicians to Tasks
Explanation
Line supervisors can assign technicians to a skill requirement as executors, certifiers, or inspectors using the
Task Work Assignments page. They can do this using the assignment list, Gantt chart or
the Assignments assistant.
The Assignment assistant displays all the unassigned skill requirements for that specific task.
The resource list displays all the resources assigned to the same site as of the task who have the certificate for
the corresponding Required Skill and Assignment Role.
If the outbound flight of the task is canceled or there is no outbound flight, the task can be assigned between
the arrival time of the inbound flight and scheduled end time of the work package.
Task work assignments have the following statuses:
- Assigned - All skill requirements are assigned to technicians with no
conflicts.•
- Partially Assigned – Some skill requirements are unassigned.
- Unassigned – All skill requirements are unassigned.
- No Required Skills – No skill requirements have been added.
- Resource Conflict – One or more assigned technicians are scheduled for another
task or turn at the same time. Resource conflicts typically occur due to flight delays. You can define parameters
to display resource conflicts on the Maintenance Execution Parameters page.
Line supervisors cannot assign the inspector role to a user who is already assigned as the executor or certifier
within the same skill group.
If configured on the Page Designer page, technicians can also assign other technicians
to a skill requirement from the Task Details page.
The supervisor cannot remove assignments that have been started. A supervisor can only remove skill requirements
added from the maintenance execution applications.
Prerequisites
- Define technicians - To perform this, the technicians' schedules must be defined using resource
groups. Follow the steps given below to do so:
- Create a site.
- Connect calendars and users to the site (Extended Site Info).
- Create a resource group (Resource Type: Person).
- Connect the site to the resource group.
- Add technicians to the resource group (Persons section).
- Connect the site and airport using the Airport page.
Note: If the HCM module is used, then the HR schedule of the person's primary scheduling
employment is taken to get the availability. If there is no HR Schedule, then the Work Time Calendar directly
connected to the person is taken to get the availability. To assign work to technicians, line supervisors
should have access to the site.
- The skill requirement is defined on the Task Work Assignments page or
Task Details page
- Define work assignment display parameters to display resource conflicts (FLIGHT_DELAY_FOR_CONFLICT_MINS &
DISPLAY_RESOURCE_CONFLICT) on the Maintenance Execution Parameters page
- There must be an inbound and outbound flight for the turn.
- The technician should not have an existing assignment with the same skill and role.
System Effects
- Technicians can view their assignments for a task on the My Work page.
- If an assignment group includes executor, certifier, and inspector assignments, removing the executor
assignment also removes the certifier and inspector assignments, as long as none of the assignments are in
progress. Similarly, if the group includes all three roles, removing the certifier assignment also removes the
inspector assignment, provided no assignments are in progress.
