Define Inspections on Modification
    Explanation
    This activity is used to define initial and continued inspections that should be performed prior to terminating
    the modification.
    Initial and continued inspections are performed as recurring inspections until the terminating action is
    performed. The initial inspections are normally used to determine if the continued inspections or terminating
    action of a modification is required or not. The continued inspections are normally used when the initial
    inspection revealed condition that requires more/less frequent inspections. Each step of the inspection is possible
    to define with one or more operational parameters and/or calendar interval. Terminating actions are defined by an
    operational parameter value, a calendar interval or as the next visit in workshop/next interval maintenance. When
    an inspection has been executed with remarks, it is possible to proceed to the next step of the inspection or to
    force the terminating action on the serial. You are required to indicate the next step to which to proceed when
    reporting the inspection, locally in IFS/Fleet and Asset Management or on the work order. It will be possible to
    define two steps per part, with an implicit third step:
    
      - Step 1 determines the intervals of the initial inspection.
- Step 2 determines the increased or decreased incidence of the inspections.
- Step 3 is an implicit step that leads to the embodiment of the modification. The third step is a terminating
      action.
An inspection for a modification might proceed as follows:
    
      - Inspect aircraft every 400 FHR (flight hours) for evidence of cracks. If nothing is found after 2000 FHR from
      the effective date (recurs until 2000 FHR), terminate the inspection.
- If evidence of cracks are found after 400 FHR, increase the intensiveness of the inspections to 200 FHR. If
      nothing is found after 4000 FHR from the effective date, terminate the inspection.
- If evidence of cracks are found after 200 FHR, the modification must be embodied on the serial. Calculation
      of the due date to comply with the modification will start from the last execution of the 200 FHR inspection on
      the serial. Intervals to comply with the modification can be defined in operational parameters, calendar or such
      as the Next Visit in Workshop field.
To define inspections, go to the Define Modification/Execution tab and enter required
    information:
    
      - If you enter an operational parameter, the inspection interval and inspection interval limit must be
      specified.
- If the initial inspection or continued inspection is to take place based on calendar time (instead of or in
      addition to operational use), a calendar interval, calendar unit, and calendar limit must be specified.
- Intervals for continued inspections must either be more frequent or less frequent than the intervals defined
      for initial inspections.
The description of what should be inspected and how is done by connecting task cards to the inspections. If the
    IFS/Complex Assembly MRO solution is used, the description of the work to be done is defined by use of repair codes
    in manufacturing.
    Prerequisites
    
      - A modification with the Preliminary status must be defined and parts must be assigned to the
      modification prior to the definition of the inspections.
- Before Continued Inspections can be registered, you must have first registered Initial Inspections.
System Effects
    
      - Modification due calculation can be run to calculate the due dates for the initial and the continued
      inspections.
- When the modification is calculated, all intervals will be calculated and compared to the values for the
      serials that has the Initial Inspection modification execution type in the Modification Details/Assign
      Serials tab, and which ever interval that is first reached will trigger the inspection to become due.
