This activity is used to create Schedule of Work Change Order Types (SOW Change Types). The SOW Change Type is mandatory when creating a Schedule of Work Change Order and is defined per company.
Each SOW Change Type can have a default change type for sales contracts and/or subcontracts, or a default change type for projects, or be enabled for Potential Change Orders (PCO). It is not possible to combine these; instead, create a separate SOW Change Type for each type of change.
The specified default change type will be used when creating Schedule of Work Change Orders connected to any of these contract change orders. This ensures that the appropriate change type is automatically applied, whether the Schedule of Work Change Order is linked to a contract change order for a sales contract, subcontract, or project contract change order.
When the Potential Change Order (PCO) option is enabled for the SoW Change Type, it serves as a tentative or informal change order created to track work conditions that may exceed the base contract. A PCO does not establish a legal and binding contract between the project owner and the contractor. Instead, its primary purpose is to document a sequence of events that could lead to contract modifications.
