Work Order Event Log

What is Work Order Event Log?

The Work Order Event Log keeps track of important actions and changes related to a work order. A Work Order Event log is created only if it is configured. Not only does it record when the Work Order was created, modified, assigned, or completed, but it also shows relevant updates on connected tasks and assignments. This means you can easily see what is happening with the Work Order and its associated tasks.

This Event Log captures different operations performed by users or processes. It stores information about what properties were changed, who made the changes, and when each change took place.

Configuring Event Logging and Event Types in Work Orders

To enable the event log, the service EventLog needs to be connected to the applicable LUs (Logical Units) associated with the Prepare Work Order, Historical Work Order, Work Task and Work Assignment in the Solution Manager/Object Connections/Object Connections page.

For records to be displayed in the Historical Work Order, a system-defined object connection transformation rule will be available. Refer Object Connection Transformation.

The list of application-defined events available in the Work Order Event Log includes:

The status changes of the Work Order, Work Task, Work Assignment and Work Task Step are displayed under the application-defined Event Type named Status Change. The new status (e.g., Released, Work Done, etc.) will be displayed in the Event field.

Note: Viewing large numbers of records in the Event_Log_Table on the Work Order Event Log page can lead to slow load times and may result in time-out errors. To improve performance and streamline the viewing process, consider the following options:

Prepare Work Order Page

Use the Attachment Panel to view both Work Order and Work Task events. This alternative provides faster access to event information and avoids potential time-out issues on the main Work Order Event Log page.

Work Task Page

View Work Task, Work Task Steps, and Work Assignment events directly within the Work Task page, offering convenient access to individual task-related events without needing to load the entire Work Order Event Log page.

These adjustments help optimize the process of accessing and managing event records efficiently.

Work Order Event Log Command

Navigation to the Work Order Event Log is possible from the Prepare Work Order Page, Execute Work Order Page, Conclude Work Order Page, Historical Work Order Page, Active Work Orders Page, and Historical Work Orders Page. This allows viewing the events of a work order and its sub-element event logs (Work Task, Work Task Steps, and Work Assignment events) seamlessly.

Note: If the URL exceeds the maximum limit, the system will still navigate to the Work Order Event Log page but will display a warning and truncate the results to the maximum length. Users can refine their search and try again. Additionally, this solution may not work for work orders with many sub-elements due to the aforementioned limitation.
