Line Maintenance Planning

Line Maintenance Planning helps the Line Planner create and schedule work packages for executing Line Maintenance activities. These work packages have the type 'Line'.

The process involves several sub-processes to perform the activity. Below is a description of each sub-process:

Review all Upcoming Maintenance Requirements.

This subprocess helps the Line Planner review all open tasks, including faults, deferred faults, ad hoc tasks, routine tasks, and opportunistic tasks, to decide whether to include each task in the work package. The Line Planner uses the fleet due tasks to review the open tasks and faults.

Assign Tasks / Faults to the Existing Work Package

This subprocess is valid only when the Work Package already exists. The Line Planner assigns tasks and faults that are executable with the rest of the work package. The Line Planner ensures the due dates of the tasks and faults fall within the next maintenance window. This Work Package should not be 'INWORK' or 'COMPLETE'.

Create a New Work Package

If a suitable work package is not available for the unscheduled tasks and faults the Line Planner is trying to allocate, the Line Planner creates a new work package. Before that, the Line Planner ensures the due dates of the faults and tasks fall within the next maintenance window.

Schedule Work Package

In this subprocess, the Line Planner checks the available locations, location capabilities, and available skills to execute the Work Package. After that, the Line Planner sets the scheduled start and end times. These times should align with the aircraft’s flight schedule.

Schedule Aircraft at a Hangar Location

In this subprocess, the Line Planner schedules the aircraft in a special hangar location if the aircraft requires maintenance in a hangar. This could be due to skill shortages or time allocation mismatches. With this subprocess, the Line Planner can schedule the ‘LINE’ work package in an intermediary hangar location.

Once the process is complete, the work package can be executed at a Line Maintenance Location.

NOTE: After defining and scheduling the work package, request the parts before committing to the work package. The system automatically requests all the required parts. Any part request that cannot be fulfilled with current stock is requested from the material management personnel. Committing the workscope of the work package achieves the same outcome.
