Add Tool Requirement
Explanation
This activity allows a technician or supervisor to create additional tool requirements to complete a task.
This is done using the Add Tools/Equipment assistant, which facilitates tool selection,
allocation of usage time, and assignment of specific serial numbers.
The Tools tab also shows tools published from CAMO.
You can later record tool usage when you record work for the task and sign off on the tool usage.
You can also remove a tool requirement on a task or fault provided that the tool use has not been signed
off.
Prerequisites
- The task must be in the Active or In Work status.
- The fault must be in the Open or Deferred status.
- The user must have the technician or supervisor permission set assigned to them.
Procedure
- Open the Task Details or Fault Details page.
- Select Add Tools/Equipment at the top of the page, or click the +
icon in the TOOLS tab.
- In the assistant:
- Tool/Equipment Group: Type to filter and select from the list of tool groups.
- Allocated Hours (HH:MM): Enter the estimated tool usage time.
- To choose a tool with a specific serial number, select the tool and select Assign Specific
Tool.
- Select:
- Add to confirm the tool addition.
- Add and Search Again to add more tools.
- Select Cancel to discard tool addition and return to the Task Details
or Fault Details page.
Note:
- If the DISPLAY_TOOL_INVENTORY_SEARCH_LIST parameter in the Maintenance
Execution Parameters page is set to FALSE, you cannot select a specific tool.
- You can edit tool demands from the Tools tab in the Task Details and
Fault Details pages.
- You cannot delete tool requirements that are published from CAMO. To remove them, delete the tool from
the work package in CAMO and republish the work package.
- If a tool demand does not have a specific tool assigned, select the demand, and then choose
Assign on the Tools tab in the Task Details or Fault
Details page to assign a tool.
System Effects
- A new tool demand line is created and visible in the Tools tab of the Task Details,
Fault Details, Aircraft Turn Details and Hangar Maintenance Work
Package pages.
- The tool is available for check out in the Check Out Tool and Equipment and
Tool and Equipment pages.
