Synchronize Part Attributes

Explanation

This activity is used to synchronize part information that you have already changed for the source part from one part to another.

This may be useful for synchronizing part information in many instances. For example, you might be require to change the Part Product Family for all part records in several sites as the source part. In such cases, you can use the Synchronize Part Attributes assistant to synchronize the Part Product Family. You can also synchronize a group of parts to one or several sites in single execution, reducing the time required to update part data across sites.

Notes:

• Information can be synchronized between different sites, or across multiple sites  simultaneously using the Site Cluster feature.
• You can synchronize the information onto existing parts that related to source parts. The source part (From Part) is specified in the From Part No field, and the part onto which you are copying (To Part) is entered in the To Part No field.
• You can synchronize multiple parts by grouping them into a Part Copy Group, referencing the source site defined in the Part Copy Source Site, and then applying the same changes to one or more sites simultaneously through the Site Cluster feature..
• You can use the Synchronize Part Attributes assistant to precisely specify which information you want to synchronize.  The selections are organized down to the category groups, and listed in the Part Information to Synchronize field. By default, the options in the Enabled column would be selected for most of the category groups. In this version, the attributes are included in Inventory Part, General and  Inventory Part, Characteristics categories.
• Certain part information selected in the Part Information to Synchronize column may not exists in the From Part. To monitor such cases, you can select the Cancel if Original is Missing options against the relevant part information.

• If you have previously used the Synchronize Part Attributes assistant, the Enabled option will remain selected for the part information that you synchronized last.
• If you have not used the assistant before, the Enabled option will default to a standard set of part information, which can also be restored by clicking Default.
• If you want the selected information to be copied as a background job, select the Background Job option.

Prerequisites

• Part information to be synchronized should exist in the From Part/Part Source Site records.

System Effects

• The selected part information will be synchronized.
• If the planner is blocked for use, the system will fetch the planner from the default value specified in the Sites per User page.
