Analyze Shop Order Multilevel Material Availability
Explanation
Use this activity to analyze the availability of all levels (including the parent part) for a single shop
order.
Configure below simulation options to control the calculation, then click Simulate Material
Availability to trigger the calculation:
- Enable Include Open Supplies to consider open supplies for the projected on-hand quantity
calculation. If disabled, open supplies will be displayed in the simulation, but will not be considered in
projected on hand quantity calculation.
- Enable All Levels to calculate and view the availability for all levels of the product
structure (BOM).
Once the calculation completed, the list will show the availability of each part in the structure. The
Availability Message field helps in determining whether or not to create new supplies for the
given part. The messages and the respective indications are as follows:
- Available covers Demand: there is no need to create new supply.
- Available + Open Supply covers Demand: there is no need to create new supply.
- Need Orders: there is a need to create new supply. However the calculated start date of
this supply will be later than or equal to today (i.e., the system date).
- Min Simulated Start Date earlier than Today: there is a need to create new supply. The
calculated start date of this supply will be earlier than today (i.e., the system date).
- Not Calculated, Parent Qty OK: the components have not been netted because there is
sufficient parent quantity available. This message is only displayed if the All
Levels option is enabled.
Select Show Shortages Only to display only the component lines for which there is a material
shortage, i.e. components for which the projected quantity on hand on the required date is less than zero.
You can also analyze the supply/demand details for a part by expanding the line using the caret down icon.
Prerequisites
- A shop order that is not in status Closed or Cancelled must exist.
- To analyze the availability of lower levels of a component part, it must not have Part Type
set to Remanufactured, Disassembly Component, By-Product,
Co-Product or Core.
