Auto Process Shop Orders
Explanation
Use this activity to automatically create, release, and/or reserve shop orders. This is a batch process. To
perform it, you must enter a set of parameters that specify how you want the system to perform the auto processing.
You can start auto processing immediately, or schedule it at a time and date in the future that you specify.
All requisitions and orders associated with a shop order process type will be automatically processed according
to the rules of the process type. In the case of requisitions, they will be converted to shop orders. In the case
of shop orders, they will be moved from Planned status to Released status, and optionally, on to
Reserved, according to the process type steps.
The following parameters are available:
- Offset From Normal Time Span, the number of days that you want the system to offset from the shop
order release date.
- Process Type, the shop order process type that the system will use to perform this activity. If you
leave this field blank the system will consider all shop order process types.
- Planner, the planner that the system will consider when performing this activity. If you leave this
field blank the system will not limit its processing to a specific planner.
- Site, the site that the system will use to perform this activity. If you leave this field blank the
system will not limit its processing to a specific site.
- Part No, the part that the system will use to perform this activity. If you leave this field blank the
system will not limit its processing to a specific part.
Prerequisites
- Shop order process types must have been defined on the Shop Order Process Type page.
- To create shop orders, shop order requisitions connected to a process type with a Process Event set to
Create Shop Order must exist. The parts must have a buildable structure.
- To release shop orders, shop orders connected to a process type with a Process Event set to Release
Shop Order must exist. The parts must have a buildable structure.
- To reserve shop orders, shop orders connected to a process type with a Process Event set to Reserve
Shop Order must exist. Adequate material must be available in inventory.
- You can connect a process type to the manufactured part on the Manufacturing tab of the
Inventory Part page. Requisitions and shop orders created for a part with a connected process type
will inherit this process type.
System Effects
- The system creates, releases and/or reserves shop orders based on specified parameters.
- Shop orders without an attached shop order process type are not subject to automatic order processing.
- When auto reserve process reserving material to a shop order where pegged material line(s) exists, the
automatic reservation will reserve the quantity that is not pegged.
- If Auto Replace to Alternate upon Reservation is enabled for the part on the
Manufacturing tab on the Inventory Part page, the logic
will replace and reserve as much as available of the alternate component(s) before reserving the remainder of
the main component.
