Close Shop Order
Explanation
This activity is used to close a shop order. A shop order can be closed using below methods:
- When the Close Code is set to Auto Close and enough produced parts on the
shop order have been received to meet the defined Close Tolerance.
- When receiving produced parts on the shop order with Force Shop Order Closure enabled.
- Manually by clicking Status and then Close.
- If open operations exist, but you still want to close the order, enable Close
Operations. It is not allowed close the order keeping the operations open.
- If enough material to cover the completed and scrapped quantities has not yet been issued, but you still
wish to close the order, enable Simplified Material Check.
The shop order will revalue the receipt of the product and the scrapping of Work In Process (WIP) at operation
only if the primary product has an appropriate inventory valuation method. The two appropriate inventory valuation
methods are: Weighted Average with any inventory part cost level, and Standard Cost with only a cost
level of cost per serial. When re-valuation occurs, the receipt transactions on the shop order will be re-valued
for the primary product, by-products, co-products, disassembly components and substitute parts which have an
appropriate inventory valuation method. Received products with other inventory valuation methods, or whose
inventory valuation method has changed since the initial receipt on the shop order, will not be re-valued.
Note: MRO shop orders created from a work scope can be closed only from the MRO Interim Order
Structure page. It is not possible to close such orders in Shop Order or
Disposition Shop Order pages.
Prerequisites
- If a shop order is manually pegged against a customer order line, purchase order line, or a shop order, the
pegging has to be removed first.
- For an MRO shop visit, none of the MRO disassembly, disposition, repair or MRO assembly shop orders
pertaining to that visit's top level can be closed until the topmost MRO assembly order has been
received. This permits updates to the shop orders in the event that a work scope re-evaluation is required.
System Effects
- The status of the shop order is changed to Closed.
- If Close Operations is enabled, the status of the operations is changed to
Closed without reporting any additional time or quantity.
- The remaining material reservations are removed. This means that the capacity and material booked for the
shop order becomes available for other shop orders.
- The receipt transaction and the scrapping of WIP at operation may be re-valued.
- Variance transactions may be created in inventory transaction history.
- Connected handling units will be disconnected from the shop order.
- If a serial tracked part is disassembled on a disassembly shop order, the Current Position
is set to Unlocated, and the Operational Status is set to
Disassembled on the Part Serial page for the disassembled part.
