Compare Shop Order Material and Operation with Structure and Routing
Explanation
Use this activity to view the similarities or differences between components in the product structure and
components in the shop order as well as the operations in the shop order and operations in routing.
You can also use this activity to update the structure or routing revision or alternate of a shop order that is
in the status of Planned or Released.
This activity can also be used to update the shop order material or operation lines for a shop order in the
status of Parked, with the previous status of Reserved or Started. The shop order must have
the same revision or alternate as the part, and need to have Enable Rev/Alt to be Changed option enabled.
Allowing updates for material or operation lines can be done by enabling the Update Shop Order Materials
and/or Update Shop Order Operations option. Else, the shop order material or operation line has to be
updated manually with differences.
To compare the material and operation of a shop order with structure and routing, click Handle Materials and
Operations and then Compare with Structure and Routing on the Shop Order page, or open the
Compare Shop Order with Structure and Routing assistant from the navigator.
- In the first assistant step, select the shop order and then specify the structure and routing that should be
used for the comparison.
- In the second assistant, analyze the similarities and differences of the shop order components. The
comparison for components is made concerning part number, structure line no, quantity per assembly, operation no,
component scrap and scrap values. Use the settings to control the type of components to display:
- Identical - means the above mentioned attributes are identical on the shop order and the
structure.
- Additional - means the component exists on the shop order but not in the structure. If you wish to
remove the shop order component, enable the Update option.
- Different - means the component exists on both the shop order and the structure, but at least one
of the above mentioned attributes differ. If you wish to update the shop order component to match the
structure attributes, enable the Update option.
- Absent - means the component exists in the structure, but not on the shop order. If you wish to
add the component to the shop order, enable the Update option.
- In the third assistant step, analyze the similarities and differences of the shop order operations. The
comparison for operations is made concerning the operation no, work center no, preferred resource, setup labor
class, labor class, machine setup time, machine run factor, labor setup time, setup crew size, labor factor and
crew size values. Use the settings to control the type of operations to display:
- Identical - means the above mentioned attributes are identical on the shop order and the
routing.
- Additional - means the operation exists on the shop order but not in the routing. If you
wish to remove the shop order operation, enable the Update option.
- Different - means the operation exists on both the shop order and the routing, but at least one of
the above mentioned attributes differ. If you wish to update the shop order operation to match the routing
values, enable the Update option.
- Absent - means the operation exists in the routing, but not on the shop order. If you wish to add
the operation to the shop order, enable the Update option.
- In the fourth assistant step, review the components and operations that should be updated. To update
materials, enable Update Shop Order Materials, and to update operations enable Update Shop Order
Operations. Then click Update.
Prerequisites
This activity requires a shop order and a part structure or routing being created
To compare, the order type and structure/routing type must be either Manufacturing,
Remanufacturing, Prototype or Repair.
To update the shop order with the differences:
- The order type has to be either Manufacturing, Remanufacturing or
Prototype.
- It has to be in the status of Planned, Released, or Parked with Enable Rev/Alt to be
Changed enabled.
- To update an operation, the operation and the following operations must not be started.
- To remove or decrease the quantity per assembly, the shop order material line need to be in the status of
Planned or Released before the shop order was parked.
- The operation cannot be an outside operation.
- The operation number for the material line must be equal.
- The Qty Replaced in shop order material lines must be null or zero, and the Replaced Line No
must be null.
- The shop order with split operations cannot be updated.
- To update the shop order material lines that have been listed by phantom or blow through parts, the Update
Shop Order Materials and/or Update Shop Order Operations option must be manually enabled.
System Effects
As a result of this activity,
- The system allows you to compare the similarities and differences between the components and operations in
the shop order and those in the product structure and routing.
- Shop order material/operation list can be updated together with structure revision alternate and routing
revision alternate.
