Move Shop Order Reservations with Transport Task
Explanation
This activity is used to initiate the move of shop order reservations to a new location in the warehouse using a
transport task. A typical use case is moving reserved material from a location in the main warehouse to a shop
floor location before it is consumed.
You can initiate the move in one of the following ways:
- For selected material lines on the Shop Order/Materials, Shop Order
Materials or Shop Floor Workbench/Materials pages: select the material
line(s), click Reservation, and then Move Reservations with Transport
Task.
- For selected shop orders on the Shop Order or Shop Orders
pages: select the shop order(s), click Material Actions, and then Move Reservations with
Transport Task.
- For selected shop order operations on the Shop Floor Workbench page: select the
operation(s), click Reservation, and then Move Reservations with Transport
Task.
- From the navigator: Open the Move Shop Order Reservations with Transport Task
dialog.
In the dialog:
- In the From Location section, specify the selection criteria for the location to
move from, i.e., all reservations from these locations will be contendered for the move.
- In the To Location section, specify the destination location. You can either enter a
specific location or choose to move the material to the inbound location defined for the work center requiring
the material.
- Enable Include Full Qty of Top Handling Unit if you want to include all stock
packed in the same top-level handling unit structure in the transport task. For example, if a reservation
includes only part of the quantity from one box on a pallet, all boxes on that pallet will be included in the
transport task.
- If the dialog was opened from the navigator or a selection of shop orders or operations, you can filter the
material lines to be included by defining criteria in the Material Selection section.
Note: When opened from a selection of operations, only material lines connected to those
operations are considered.
- If the dialog was opened from the navigator, you can filter the shop orders to be included by defining
criteria in the Shop Order Selection section. You can choose whether to create a transport
task(s) directly or schedule it as a background job.
Prerequisites
- The shop order material line(s) must have a reserved quantity that is not already included in a transport
task.
- When initiated for selected shop orders or operations, the shop order status must be either
Reserved or Started.
- When initiated for selected operations, the operations must have connected material lines.
- The Move Reserved Stock setting on Site/Warehouse
Management/General tab should be set to Not Pick Listed,
Not on Printed Pick List, or Allowed. Furthermore, if the setting is set to
Not Pick Listed, the shop order reservation must not appear on a pick list. If the setting is
set to Not on Printed Pick List, it must not appear on a printed pick list.
- To move the shop order reservations to the work center inbound location, the material line(s) must be
connected to an operation performed at a work center that has a single inbound location defined.
System Effects
- The shop order reservation(s) will either be added to existing transport task(s) according to consolidation
rules, or assigned to newly created transport task(s).
- If you have scheduled the task as a background job, the task will be automatically performed based on the
specified selection criteria.
