Add Convenience Tasks to Maintenance Order
Explanation
This activity is used to add convenience tasks to a maintenance order. All convenience tasks defined for the
serial structure associated with the maintenance order is valid for distribution. For more information on defining
convenience tasks, refer to the activity Define a
Convenience Task.
Note that convenience tasks are added and executed in the same manner as maintenance events.
You can add convenience tasks to a maintenance order from the New Maintenance Order
assistant while creating a maintenance order or by selecting the Assign Events option from Manage
Maintenance Order page. Once the required convenience tasks are selected, click the Assign selected
convenience tasks option to add the tasks to the maintenance order. If the maintenance order is in the
Released or Started status, you can also use the Assign in background
job option to add the tasks to the maintenance order through a background job. The assigned background
jobs are visible on the Background Jobs page for monitoring.
If a heavy maintenance contract is connected to the maintenance order and/or if the Heavy Maintenance
Contract contract type is selected on the maintenance order, a heavy maintenance contract, contract group,
and contract line can be connected to the assigned convenience task until this event is released. This can be done
in the following places:
-
When assigning the convenience task in the New Maintenance
Order assistant.
-
When assigning the convenience task to an already created maintenance order.
-
In the Manage Maintenance Order/Included Events tab.
-
In the Manage Maintenance Event page.
Prerequisites
- A maintenance order must exist. The maintenance order must not be in the Work Done or Finished
status.
- One or more convenience tasks must be defined for the part structure and maintenance program currently
associated with the serial defined on this maintenance order.
- If you are adding a convenience task to a maintenance order that has reached the Under Preparation
status or higher, and predefined task cards exists, the resources and material on the task card must be valid at
the maintenance order site. For resources, the site connection is set in the Connections tab in Resource Details
page.
System Effects
- Convenience tasks will be assigned to the maintenance order. If the Assign in background option was used, the
convenience tasks will be added to the maintenance order once the background job is performed.
- If defined, a heavy maintenance contract, contract group, and contract line will be connected to the
convenience task.
- If the maintenance order is in the Under Preparation status, and demands have been released, resource
activities will be generated for the resources included on the convenience task.
- If convenience tasks are assigned to a maintenance order that is in the Under Preparation,
Released or Started status:
- Task cards predefined for the event code will be retrieved automatically to the maintenance order along
with its resources and material. Ownership of the material will be set based on predefined rules, i.e., based
on the part provisioning rules of the contract connected to the maintenance order or defaulted as company
owned stock. For more information on setting ownership on material demands, refer the activity View Material Demands.
- If the distribution type defined on the maintenance order is Execution Logic Structure, the task cards
that are connected to the event will be mapped into the correct execution logic orders (ELOs) on the maintenance
order. In addition, the task cards will be mapped into corresponding ELO work orders in IFS/Work Order
Management.
