Delete Activity
Explanation
An activity can be deleted using one of two methods, depending on whether it has connected objects:
- Delete Activity: Use this action command when the activity has connected objects.
Note: When using the Delete Activity action command, connected objects are also deleted.
However, if any connected object cannot be deleted—such as a task with reported progress—the system
will block the deletion and display an error message.
- Delete: Use this button when the activity has no connected objects.
Deleting the Last Activity with Employee Allocations
If an employee allocation is connected at the project or subproject level, and the Date
From and Date To fields in the Resource Planning / Employee Allocation tab have not been
manually specified, the system uses the Earliest Start and Latest Finish dates of the last remaining activity to
determine the allocation's validity period. In this case, attempting to delete the last activity would result
in an undefined validity period, and the system will prevent deletion. To proceed, you must manually enter values
in the Date From and Date To fields.
Prerequisites
- If using the Delete button, all objects must first be disconnected from the activity.
- The activity must not have any baseline dates set.
- Any employee allocation registered to an activity must be removed first.
System Effects
- If the action command Delete Activity is selected, all objects without any transactions, e.g.,
miscellaneous demand lines without connected supply requests, are deleted along with the activity.
- If using the Delete button, the activity is deleted.
- If an employee allocation has been connected either on the projects or subproject level, and no values have
been given in the Date From and Date To fields, an error message will appear if the last remaining
activity is to be deleted.
