Define FAI Control Plan Lines
Explanation
A FAI control plan manufacturing consists of two levels: a header and one or more control plan lines. This
activity is used to create new control plan lines.
A FAI control plan line specifies how to inspect a specified part during the execution of a FAI shop
order.
Only the data types Variable and Categorical are allowed for FAI control plan
lines.
For each control plan line, the sample size will be calculated when an analysis is created. To calculate the
sample size, an inspection code must be selected.
- It is only allowed to use inspection codes that ensure 100% inspection in a FAI control plan.
- The system defined inspection code ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING cannot be used in a FAI control
plan.
To create a new control plan line (data point), click the new command on the Control Plan
Lines tab;
- In the Characteristic No field, enter a unique value.
- In the Data Type field, select Variable or
Categorical.
- If the data type is set to Categorical, enter a Category ID or use the List
of Values (LoV) picker to choose from the available category IDs in the Category field. The
Category Entry type is always set to single row by default.
- If the data type is set to Variable, enter information about the tolerance limits in the
Outer Min, Inner Min, Nominal Value, Inner Max, and Outer Max fields. The
nominal value is required, along with either the combination of Inner Min/Inner Max and/or
Outer Min/Outer Max.
- In control plan manufacturing, it is mandatory to enter a part in the Produced Part to
Inspect field for each control plan line. Use the list of values to choose from the available parts. Any
produced part (by-products, co-products, or disassembly components) that exists in at least one of the existing
product structure alternates for the main product part, defined in the header section of the control plan, may be
selected. However, only data points for the main product will be included in the FAI characteristic
accountability results.
- To make it mandatory to attach a media item to the inspection result, enable Media
Required.
Prerequisites
- The control plan header must be in the status Created.
- At least one norm type must have been created.
- An inspection code that ensures 100% inspection must have been defined
System Effects
As a result of this activity, one or more control plan lines will be created.
