Enter values for acceptance sampling
Explanation
This activity is used to enter values to be used for acceptance sampling when creating the analyses from the
control plan.
To enter values for acceptance sampling edit the control plan template header or control plan header and update
the fields in the Acceptance Sampling Parameters section.
Standard
- ISO 2859-1:1999 - Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes - Part 1: Sampling schemes indexed by
acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection
- ISO 2859-3:2005 - Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes - Part 3: Skip-lot sampling
procedures
- ISO 3951-2:2013 - Sampling procedures for inspection by variables – Part 2: General specification for
single sampling plans indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection of independent quality
characteristics
Sampling Plans
- With a single sampling plan for attributes only one sample is drawn, and acceptance is decided from the
number of nonconforming items in that sample. With a double sampling plan, the sample size is smaller. But the
number of nonconforming items may fall in between the acceptance and rejection numbers requiring a second sample
to be drawn to decide on acceptance or rejection. With a multiple sampling plan, the sample size is even smaller,
but up to five consecutive samples can be drawn to decide on acceptance or rejection.
Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL)
- AQL is defined as the worst tolerable process fraction (%) nonconforming items when a continuing series of
lots is submitted for acceptance sampling.
Inspection Level
- The inspection level sets the relative amount of inspection. There are three general inspection levels, I, II
and III. Unless otherwise specified, level II shall be used. I is used when less discrimination is required and
III is used when greater discrimination is required. There are also four additional special levels, S-1, S-2, S-3
and S-4 which may be used when small sample sizes are necessary and larger sampling risks can be tolerated.
Prerequisites
A control plan template header or a control plan header for manufacturing or purchasing must
exist.
System Effects
Values used for acceptance sampling are defined on the control plan header.
Note: You need to use the system-defined Inspection Code ‘ACCEPTANCE
SAMPLING’ to activate acceptance sampling for a control plan line.
Note: When activating acceptance sampling for a control plan line, the AQL and
Inspection Level values automatically will be set to the default values defined in the
Acceptance Sampling Parameters section in the control plan header, but they can be
edited.
