Manual Sourcing

Explanation

This activity is used for manual sourcing of the maintenance material requisition line.

To source a part, select the material line where the Supply Code is Invent Order and click Manual Sourcing from the Reserve/Unreserve command group. This will open the Manual Sourcing assistant. The assistant displays all options available to source the selected material line. The options include the suppliers from whom you can purchase the part, all sites in which the part in the material line is defined as an inventory part, all remote warehouses that belong to sites connected to the same company as the Demand Site of the material line.

If Manual Sourcing is opened for a line in Request Task/Material, and when alternate parts are applicable, the list of sourcing options will also include all sites and remote warehouses in which those alternate parts are defined as inventory parts, and the suppliers from whom you can purchase those alternate parts.
If Manual Sourcing is opened for a line in Aviation Maintenance Material Requisition Lines, and when interchangeable parts are applicable, the list of sourcing options will also include all sites and remote warehouses in which those interchangeable parts are defined as inventory parts, and the suppliers from whom you can purchase those interchangeable parts.

Once one or many sourcing options have been selected, you should enter the Quantity to Source from each sourcing option, and press OK. Executing manual sourcing results in new material lines getting created for each selected sourcing option. For the rest of this activity description, the initial line which is/was sourced/interchanged will be referred to as the parent line, and any new material line resulting/resulted from sourcing/interchanging will be referred to as a child line.

Once the Quantity Required of the parent line is splitted into one or multiple child lines, any changes to the Quantity Required of any child line will automatically adjust the quantity of the parent line. This is done to make sure that the sum of the total of Quantity Required of parent and child lines is always as same as the intial material requirement of the parent line.
