Process Serial Structure
Explanation
This activity is used to initiate the creation of a serial structure as part of the Import Asset
process.
You can run the Process Serial Structure command once all errors in the
validation log are corrected. Entries with the Excluded status are not
considered during serial structure creation. If an excluded part has child components, those
components are also excluded.
Note: Not all conditions and configuration rules can be identified during
validation of the uploaded data. Some issues may only be detected when the serial structure is created and may
result in errors at this time.
When the Process Serial Structure command is successfully run, the serial
structure is created in the Planned for Operation status.
When the serial structure is first set to In Operation or Out of
Operation from the Planned for Operation status, the following occurs:
- If a Structure Change Date is provided for the topmost serial in the import
file, it is defaulted in the Structure Change Date field in the assistant. You
can run the Set Structure In Operation or Set Structure Out of
Operation commands from the Import Asset page to change the
structure status. Replacement history is created for the structure entries. Operational loggings are generated
using the usage values provided in the asset import file. The origin of these loggings is set
to Initialization Logging. The same existing validation logic for operational values
applies.
Prerequisites
- The overall import status must be Validation Completed.
System Effects
- The serial structure is created for the asset.
- The overall status of the import is updated to Imported.
- The structure can be set In Operation or Out of
Operation and used in workflows.
