Load Handling Units
Explanation
This activity involves loading shipment handling units into a consolidated shipment. In essence, this function
facilitates the management of loading handling units onto the transport vehicle. This feature proves highly
beneficial when greater control and accuracy are required in the loading process.
Moreover, with this feature, loading can be done with two different approaches:
- Based on plan – the Consolidated Shipment is planned upfront
- Loading is a matter of confirming that handling units are loaded according to the plan.
- If desired, exceptions can be handled.
- Useful when more preparation is needed e.g., transports must be booked early; a lot of paperwork,
administration and approvals are needed.
- Based on execution – the actual loading decides the scope of the
Shipments and the Consolidated Shipment
- Loading initiated by route, forwarder or similar when the transport vehicle arrives.
- Loading continues until the transport vehicle reaches its capacity or there is no more items to load.
- Used if it is more of a constant flow of material and transports can be easily booked.
To load handling units, in the Load Consolidated Shipment page, go to the
Handling Units to Load tab and filter out the handling units to load. The search contexts
or the list filtration can be used as, If load based on plan the Connected Shipments search context is beneficial
as it allows the visibility of only the planned handling units. If the loading is done based on execution other
search contexts and list filtration could be used.
Select the handling units to be loaded and then click on the Load Handling Unit
command to load handling units to the Consolidated Shipment.
Prerequisites
- Inventory parts should be picked into the shipment inventory and attached to the shipment handling unit. All
the reservations must be attached to the shipment handling unit.
- For non-inventory parts it is enough that the part is attached to the shipment handling unit.
- The loading of the consolidated shipment should not be finished.
System Effects
