Use this activity to define calibration limits for tool/equipment check out. Adding a record on this page will result in a warning or error being raised when a tool/equipment is checked out and the specified calibration limit has been reached.
A warning or error is raised when the remaining value or days until calibration due to the tool/equipment, as shown on the Tool/Equipment page, is equal to or less than the specified remaining value for warning or error.
Calibration limits can be defined on two levels; tool group or global. A global limit is a record where no
tool group is specified. If multiple records exist, the following priority order applies;
A tool group limit affects all check out of tools/equipment within that group. Both check out with or without demand, where a demand for example is a shop order operation, or an indirect job. A global limit affects check out of all tools/equipment, but only if no specific tool group or site limit exists.
In addition, the valid Calibration Base and Interval Unit must be specified for the limit record. This is also considered in the validation, if a limit is applicable when checking out a specific tool/equipment. For example, if a limit is specified for a tool group, it will only be applicable to a tool/equipment in that group if the Calibration Base and Interval Unit in the limit record match those of the tool/equipment.
Note: If a tool/equipment has not yet been calibrated for the first time, the status will be Calibration Due. In this case, a warning or error (depending on the calibration limit record) will be raised, even if the remaining value or days until calibration due have not yet reached the specified limit.
If defining a limit for a tool group, the tool group must already exist.
A warning or error is raised when checking out a tool/equipment if the calibration limit is reached.
