Add Return Material Lines
Explanation
Use this activity to add Return Material Lines. Return Material Lines represent each type of item being
returned. A line can include one or more Units, provided they are of the same Model or Part by entering a quantity
greater than one. However, a specific serialized unit can only be included on one open RMA at a time. You can add
specific serialized items to the list using the Service Object search.
When adding a Return Material Line, you can define the following:
- Return Reason: Select the appropriate return reason, such as Return and Repair, Ship Only, or Receive
Only.
- Part No: The part identifier for the unit being sent back. This must be a recognized part in the system.
- Model No: The model number for the unit being returned.
- Service Object: An item that is known to belong to a customer.
- Serial No: The serial number of the item. This is typically not known at the time of RMA creation and is
usually entered during the receiving process. If the item being repaired is entered using the Service Object
search, this field will auto-populate.
- Quantity: The number of units being sent in for repair for this model or part. The quantity will always
default to one for a Service Object or if a serial number is entered for the item.
The Payers tab, available within both the Repair RMA Line and Unit, displays the
payers associated with the repair. It automatically includes the customer, and adds any suppliers linked to active
supplier warranties fetched from the Service Object.
When multiple Service Objects on the same line have different coverage:
- If a Unit is covered by a warranty, the system applies the Price Rule from the warranty.
- If a Unit is not under warranty but covered by a Contract, the system applies the Price Rule from the
Contract.
- If there is no applicable warranty or contract, the system uses the Price Rule defined on the RMA Line.
