Define Equivalence Factors

Explanation

Equivalence factors are used to convert the environmental impact for a certain substance into a single standardized unit for comparison and analysis. These factors are defined for different environmental impact types where IFS Eco-footprint supports the following equivalence factors:

Each equivalence Factor for a substance can be registered for different date intervals, as the standard values from environment organizations are regularly updated. Hence, this data is registered in a separate tab as a sub-entity to environmental properties in the substance page.

Prerequisites

The substance that will be used as the substane family must be registered.

An environmental properties record must exist for the substance

System Effects

Equivalence factors will be used when the emission impact is calculated for an inventory part. This is done when the Part Eco-footprint calculation is performed for a single part, Calculate Eco-footprint - Part in the Part Eco-footprint page. The impact calculation cal also be performed for an entire site using the Calculate Eco-footprint Impact - All Parts
