Use this activity to report the tools or equipment used when performing a shop order operation. Tool usage can
either be reported automatically together with operation transactions or manually in the Report Tool
Usage dialog.
Automatic reporting records tool usage when machine time, produced quantity, or scrap is reported. Time and
quantity from the operation transaction are saved in tool usage history. When multiple tools are used in the
operation, the full reported quantity is recorded for each tool.
Manual reporting records tool usage for the relevant operation using the Report Tool
Usage dialog. To manually report tool usage:
In the dialog, tool groups defined as demands for the operation and with Auto Record Tool Usage
disabled are shown by default. You can add or delete tool groups to reflect the actual usage. To report usage, you
must select the relevant Tool/Equipment. Assigned tools are defaulted but can be changed. When
changed, the operation tool assignment is also updated.
Optionally, you can specify quantity and time. Quantity represents the produced quantity for the period the tool
was used, and time represents the tool usage time. Both values are saved in the tool usage history and are used if
the tool/equipment is set up for usage‑based calibration.
