Reserve Operation Tools
Explanation
This activity is used to reserve inventory parts connected to tool/equipment required by tool demands on a shop
order operation.
To reserve the tool, Open the Shop Order/Operations page. Expand the operation, select
the relevant tool(s), click Reservation, and the Reserve.
Note: The reservation logic does not consider whether the shop order is project connected and can reserve from
both standard and project inventory.
Prerequisites
- The shop order operation must not have the status Closed, Cancelled or
Planned.
- A sufficient quantity of the inventory part linked to the tool/equipment must be available in inventory
locations of type Picking and Floor Stock.
- The reserved serial number may not be a VIM object, equipment object, or a plant design object
System Effects
- The inventory part connected to the tool/equipment is reserved to the shop order operation. The logic will
follow the below prioritization:
- The Tool location defined for the work center resource on which the operation is
performed.
- The Tool location defined for the work center on which the operation is performed.
- Floor Stock locations.
- Picking locations.
- If no assignments exist for the demand, the system automatically assigns the tools according to the reserved
part.
- The Reservation Status field of the tool demand is changed to Partially
Reserved if a partial reservation occurs, or to Reserved if a complete reservation
occurs.
