Create Navigation Model
Explanation
Use this activity to create a navigation model and organize project deliverables by attribute values. A
navigation model provides alternative views of the deliverable structure, grouped by categories such as location,
section, or system. This improves visibility, simplifies navigation, and helps align the project structure with
construction, operational, or maintenance logic.
The navigation model is created in the Navigation Models tab of the
Project Deliverables Definition page. You can start from a blank model, copy an existing
one, or use a saved template. Once the model is created and attributes are assigned, deliverable items can be
grouped and browsed by those values in the Project Deliverables Navigator.
Prerequisites
- A Project Deliverables Definition must exist.
- Required item attributes and attribute values must be created in advance.
System Effects
- A new navigation model is added to the Navigation Models tab of the selected
Project Deliverables Definition.
- The model is configured in the Edit Structure tab of the Navigation
Models page, where attribute values can be added and will appear when the navigation model is
selected in the Project Deliverables Navigator tree.
- Items assigned to attribute values are grouped and displayed under those values in the Project Deliverables
Navigator.
- The structure created by the navigation model can be copied to Asset Design and Maintenance (Equipment) for
further use.
