Create Request for Service from Project

Explanation

Use this activity to create a request for service directly from a project. When you select the New Request command from the Requests group on the Project Materials and Services page, the New Request assistant opens in Service Management. A description, a customer, and a service from the service catalog are mandatory to enter. If the request is created from the project activity level, the project information is added automatically. If it is created from any other level of the project, this information must be entered manually by enabling the Project Connection option in the assistant.

The scope of the request is defined according to the service in the services catalog specified for the request. The request scope retains the project information, ensuring that any new work tasks added to the request are automatically connected to the activity based on the project information in the request scope details.

When a request is connected to a project activity, it acts as a reference to the project. It is only its work tasks that are connected to the project activity and report cost, revenue, hours, and progress. These work task connections appear on the Activity Monitoring / Project Connections page.

Connecting/Disconnecting Work Tasks

You can manually connect or disconnect the project-connected work tasks through the request, provided the work tasks do not have any cost lines or invoicable sales lines. To do this, use the Project Connection command on the Services tab of the request. All work tasks associated with the request will be connected or disconnected from or to the project activity.
