Use this activity to define cross‑company sourcing relationships on the Cross‑Company Resource Allocation page that enable resources in one company to be allocated to projects in another company.
The activity defines which resource companies a project company can source resources from when required resources are not available within the project company. It also defines which project companies a resource company makes its resources available to. Each sourcing relationship connects one project company to one resource company. Multiple relationships can be created to allow companies to source resources from, or supply resources to, several companies.
A resource in a resource company can be considered for allocation to a project in another company only when a sourcing relationship exists between the project company and the resource company. The sourcing relationship identifies which companies can supply resources to the project company, but it does not determine which specific resources in the resource company can be allocated. The allocation eligibility of a resource depends on additional factors described in About Cross-Company Resource Allocations.
