Return Material for Request Task
Explanation
This activity is used to return inventory parts that were previously issued for a Request Task but are no longer
required. Returning material ensures that unused parts are placed back into inventory and made available for future
use. This helps maintain accurate stock levels and reduces unnecessary costs.
This activity is typically performed when:
- Material was issued for a task but is not consumed
during execution.
- The task is completed or canceled, and excess material
needs to be returned.
Returning material can be done for both serially tracked and non-serial parts. When returning serially tracked
parts, the specific serial numbers must be selected. The return process updates inventory records and may involve
transport tasks if the material is returned to a different warehouse or location.
Prerequisites
- The material must have been previously issued from
inventory for the request task.
- The user must have access rights to perform material
returns in the relevant process.
System Effects
- The returned quantity is updated in inventory and
becomes available for future use.
- The Quantity Returned field is updated
for the material line.
- If parts are returned to main warehouse, a Transport
Task is created. If executed at the same time, returned parts will be moved to the main warehouse.
- Inventory transactions are updated in the Costs tab in
IFS Cloud.
