The Service Project Resource Capacity Gantt provides a visual and structured way to understand the resource capacity situation for resource group demands, both person and crew, defined within a Service Project. It helps assess whether the planned work across tasks, scopes, requests, request quotations, and the overall service project aligns with available resource capacity during the planned time periods. The chart aggregates and presents capacity information at multiple levels and highlights capacity deficits, enabling informed planning decisions.
Resource Group capacity information can be viewed at task level and aggregated up through scope, request,
request quotation, and service project levels.
Capacity requirements for any work item are shown when planned dates are defined. Planned dates can be set manually
or generated through the critical path calculation. Work hours required by each resource group are spread linearly
across the planned start and planned finish dates of a request task.
The Gantt chart visually reflects:
Overbookings are also marked with an exclamation icon.
The chart can be viewed daily, weekly, or monthly.
The chart reflects the capacity of a resource group as the sum of the capacities of its individual resources connected to the Service Organization and Service Delivery Unit defined in the request task. If broader visibility is required, options are available to include the capacity of resources associated with other Service Organizations and Service Delivery Units within the same company.
When specific qualifications, skills, certificates, or competencies, are required to perform the work and they are defined on the task level, the chart displays capacity information by only considering the capacities of the individual resources that hold the required qualifications during the planned period of the task, regardless of qualification level.
If a capacity deficit exists for the planned dates of a work item, the dates can be adjusted to a period where capacity is available. The Gantt will then reflect the updated capacity situation for the new planned dates.
Capacity for a task can be confirmed after reviewing capacity availability, and this confirmation is reflected in the Service Project Gantt. If planned dates are changed, manually or through the critical path calculation, this confirmation is removed. If there is a capacity deficit or the work will be performed by contractors, service project work items can be marked as contractors required. This flag is also visualized in the Service Project Gantt and is removed if the planned dates are later changed manually or through the critical path calculation.
