Maintenance Requirement Management
Maintenance Requirement Management is the Aviation Maintenance process used to define, revise, schedule, apply,
approve, and activate maintenance requirement definitions in ICAM. Requirements describe maintenance activities at
definition level (including scheduling and applicability) so planning, compliance, and fleet baseline application
can be controlled consistently.
Purpose
Use Maintenance Requirement Management to create or revise requirement definitions, define scheduling and
applicability, assign job cards where needed, evaluate impact of changes, approve definitions, activate them, and
apply them to the applicable fleet inventory.
Scope in the process model
Process 5.34 Maintenance Requirement Management includes the following sub-processes:
- 5.34.1 Create New or Revise Existing Maintenance Requirement - create or revise requirement
definitions and related attributes and lifecycle actions.
- 5.34.2 Define Requirement Scheduling - define or update scheduling rules and related
scheduling relationships.
- 5.34.3 Define Requirement Applicability - define or update which inventory the requirement
applies to.
- 5.34.22 Add JIC to Requirement - assign job instruction cards to a requirement.
- 5.34.4 Evaluate Impact of Requirement - review impact of requirement changes before
activation.
- 5.34.5 Approve Requirement - lock, request approval, and approve requirement
definitions.
- 5.34.6 Apply Requirement to Fleet - apply activated requirements to applicable fleet
inventory (primarily via baseline synchronization).
Key concepts
- Requirement definitions are task definitions used to model maintenance work with scheduling and applicability
information.
- Executable instructions may be packaged through associated job cards, or carried on executable
requirements.
- After activation, baseline processing applies the requirement to matching inventory according to
applicability.
- Approval workflow (when configured) typically uses lock, request approval, approve, then activate.
