Permit Planning
Use this page to get a planning overview of permits on a timeline, together with the work tasks, isolation
orders and child permits that are connected to each permit. The timeline shows whether the connected work is
planned to take place within the validity period of the permit, and lets you act on the permit and on its connected
records without leaving the page.
The page opens in search mode. Search for the permits you want to plan and select a permit in the list to the
left. Each permit is shown as a row in the timeline, with the columns Item ID, Description,
Status, Item Type, Site, Valid From and Valid To. The same columns are used for
the connected work tasks, isolation orders and child permits shown below the permit.
All dates on the timeline are shown in the time context of the permit site, also when a connected work task or
isolation order belongs to another site.
Timeline Sections
Each permit row shows a bar for the validity period of the permit, from Valid From to Valid To.
Expand the permit row to show the following sections.
- Work Tasks - Lists the work tasks connected to the permit, in all statuses. Each work task is shown as
a bar from its planned start to its planned finish.
- Isolation Orders - Lists the isolation orders connected to the permit. Each isolation order can be
shown as up to three bars: establishment, isolated and reestablishment. A bar is only shown when the
corresponding planned dates exist, so isolation orders that are not fully planned are also visible.
- Child Permits - Lists the child permits connected below the permit. Each child permit is shown as a
bar for its own validity period, and can be expanded to show its own work tasks, isolation orders and child
permits. In this way the complete permit hierarchy can be followed on the same timeline.
An isolation order can be expanded further to show a Conflict Isolations section. This section lists the
isolation orders that are in conflict with the connected isolation order, from the latest validation round only.
Each conflicting isolation order is shown as a bar from its planned start of establishment to its planned
completion of reestablishment.
The legend below the timeline shows the bar types for permit validity period, work task, isolation
establishment, isolated period, isolation reestablishment, conflict isolation and child permit. Use the legend to
show or hide a bar type. The timeline can be shown by week, day or hour, and the day scale is used by default.
Note: Dates cannot be changed by moving or resizing bars on the timeline. Planned dates for isolation
orders can be changed from the information cards, as described below.
Permit Information
Select a permit row or a permit bar to open the Permit Information card. The card shows the permit
number, description, status, permit type, site and validity dates. The following commands are available.
- Details - Opens the permit in Permit.
- Status - Performs a status change on the permit. Only the status changes that the permit currently
allows can be selected. The timeline is refreshed after the status change.

extension cause and a note. If sign-off for the extension approval has already been performed, you are asked to
confirm that the existing sign-off is reset.
- Assign Work Task - Connects a work task to the permit. This is available while the permit is in the
New, UnderPreparation, Prepared or PreparationApproved status.
- Add Isolation From Template - Creates an isolation order from an isolation template and connects it to
the permit. Only isolation templates of an isolation type that is connected to the permit type can be
selected.
- Add Child Permit - Creates a child permit below the permit, either as New Permit, where you
enter the permit type and description, or as New from Template, where the child permit is created from a
permit template. This is available when the permit type has Allow Child Permits set to True and the permit
is not in the Cancelled or Historical status.
The same commands are available on the Permit Information card for a child permit in the Child
Permits section.
