Release to Service (Line)
Explanation
Releasing an aircraft into service certifies airworthiness. This certification is done when you are completing the last in-work work package for the aircraft and signing the last sign-off requirement.
When completing the work package, you can record the aircraft capabilities and ETOPS readiness.
- Current capability specifies the aircraft certified ability to utilize approach and landing support systems in accordance with its configured capabilities.
- Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS) readiness indicates whether the aircraft meets the operational and configuration requirements necessary to conduct ETOPS-approved routes.
When a work package is empty (no tasks or faults) and has only one sign-off skill, you can also release the aircraft directly from the Aircraft Turn Details page using the Release Aircraft button.
If you find a fault after release, on IFS Cloud Web select Raise Fault on Aircraft Turn Details while the turn is still Released. When the fault is raised, the turn returns to In Maintenance. See Raise Fault.
When you finish a work package but another work package on the same turn is still In Work, complete this one with Release to Service set to No in the completion assistant. Set it to Yes only when this is the last In Work work package and Preview Release shows no errors that block release.
Prerequisites
- The status of the work package must be In Work.
- If you are releasing the aircraft through the mobile app, your
device must be online.
- All tasks for the aircraft must be completed.
- All faults for the aircraft must be closed or deferred.
- You must possess the skills to sign off on the work package.
- You must not have any errors when you preview the release.
- To synchronize the work package completion in CAMO, you must set the
skills of all sign-off requirements of the work package to your user in CAMO.
- If you use a digital signature to sign off the release to service, the application user must be registered with a valid public certificate to use the IFS Signature Service in Solution Manager.
- To override a hard stop caused by missing mandatory components, open panels, outstanding tools, overdue tasks, near-due tasks, or overdue faults, an administrator must grant you the required permissions.
- In the completion assistant, set Release to Service to Yes only if this is the last In Work work package on the aircraft turn and Preview Release shows no errors that block release. If another work package is still In Work, keep Release to Service set to No until you're ready to release the aircraft.
- To release via the Aircraft Turn Details page: the work package must have no tasks or faults, and exactly one sign-off skill must be configured.

Completed status to the Closed status automatically so that the work package also moves to the
Closed status automatically.

Aircraft page.

- A system administrator can monitor the status of the communication with CAMO to complete the work package in CAMO via the sent events on the
Communication Log page in IFS Cloud Web and the incomplete work package or workscope item alerts in CAMO, and react to errors, if any.
- The aircraft turn status is Released, the Last Released Date for the aircraft turn on the Aircraft Turn Details page is updated with the date and time of the release.
- If the sign-off was handled using digital signature flow, the signed document can be viewed from the Aircraft Turn Details page.
- You can download a .zip file containing digital signature information from the
Aircraft Turn Details page. Alternatively, if configured, you can view the digital signature files at the external file storage location.
- This .zip file contains .json, .xml, and .pdf files. The metadata is stored in the .json and .xml files, while the .pdf file includes the signed document containing the content reviewed by the line technician.
- The file name of the .zip file follows the GUID.zip format, where GUID stands for globally unique identifier.
- The files within the ZIP file are named in the <Tail number>_<Work order number>_<User ID>_<Timestamp> format.
