Request to Defer Fault
Explanation
As a line technician, you can request to defer a fault. The fault deferral can then be approved or rejected by a
maintenance operations controller (MOC) after reviewing.
To request a fault deferral, the device must be online.
You can resubmit a fault for deferral if the MOC has rejected the initial request to defer the fault.
Prerequisites
- A connection is required to perform this activity.
- The fault status must be Open.
- When the DEFER_ON_APPROVAL configuration parameter is set to TRUE in CAMO, any work that has been started on
the fault or its subtasks must be completed or assignment lines need to be job stopped before requesting
deferral. The same restriction applies when the selected deferral reference requires MOC approval.
- The aircraft must not be locked.
System Effects
- The Requested Date is set for the fault and can be viewed on the Faults to be
Deferred page.
- The Deferral Request Status field on the Fault Details and
Task Details pages changes to Pending.
- When the DEFER_ON_APPROVAL configuration parameter is set to TRUE in CAMO and a deferral request is pending,
no other actions can be taken on the fault, its subtasks, or the corresponding task until the MOC approves or
rejects the request.
Procedure
- On the Aircraft Turn Details page for the turn you are working on, go to
Work Tasks or Open Faults, click on the fault which must be
requested to be deferred, or click Details.
- On the Task Details or Faults Details page, click
Request Deferral. The Select Reference page in CAMO opens in the browser.
- Provide the deferral reference information and click OK.
Note: If there are materials issued to the task that have not been signed, a warning message
displays showing the list of materials. You can choose to continue with the deferral request or cancel to sign the
materials first.
